Si M es una matriz cuadrada que verifica la relación 2M2 - M = I, para obtener M -1 tenemos que tener en cuenta que. Si M es cuadrada y M.B = I, entonces por definición B es la matriz inversa de M.
De 2M2 – M, sacando factor común la matriz M por la izquierda tenemos M(2M – I) = I. Por tanto por definición la matriz inversa es M -1 = 2M – I, siendo I la matriz unidad del mismo orden que M.
