3.1 Potential electric energy and potential

The flowerpot in the attached image has potential gravitational energy; that is, gravity can affect it because it is at a certain height above the ground. In the same way, the electric field created by a charged particle can affect another particle situated in its field.

We call the work carried out by the electric field when the particle  travels from this point to infinity the potential energy  of a charged particle at a point in an electric field.  We call the potential energy of the unit of positive charge potential. In the visual you can study the characteristics of the potential energy of a particle in the field of another one and the potential created by a charged particle.
