Matter

Studying this teaching unit will enable students to:

  1. Get to know the most fundamental properties of matter: volume and mass, as well as their units of measure.
  2. Understand the concept of density and the units used to express it.
  3. Relate gravity to the mass of bodies and get to know some of the effects of gravitation.
  4. Get to know the smallest particles which constitute matter and have some idea of their size.
  5. Get to know a new property of certain material particles: the electric charge, and how they bind together to form atoms and molecules.
  6. Understand the concept of substance.
  7. Understand the different states of aggregation and how changes of state can be verified.
