Activity Week Denmark, April 2019

This song ”good morning land of mine” was sung at the conversation café during the first activity week in Denmark April 2019. Part of the Danish heritage is singing when we are together in a group. Every morning the pupils and teachers sing minimum 3 songs at Ørding School. And this is one of them. Here appreciation towards the beautiful landscape can be seen but also very importantly for human beings to be able to share and love. “Fro no man is an island.” We must as human beings show each other that all individuals are important to keep land and mind at ease. At Ørding school we try and in cooperate nature in our creative activities when possible in order to build up and support “To promote social inclusion by developing the participants’ own capacities and a community sense of belonging (From Butterfly project).” and also with a special focus on this: To foster cultural heritage awareness among the entire educational community. (From Butterfly project).

This background article written by lector Hanne Kusk from VIA University, Thisted department communicates important material for teachers at Ørding School. It is important to us to try and implement the children´s creative sides both in typical/common lessons but also in their more specific meetings with art and art performances during their school lives. We have had several new experiences with implementing these very special skills throughout the project. To improve students’ performance and motivation through performing arts (From Butterfly project). And also in order to elaborate on the method itself we, the teachers, have visited Hanne Kusk several times and have further plans to involve her. To elaborate a common methodology that will reinforce teaching skills and help to expand school’s curricula (From Butterfly project).
