The Cintas a Caballo Race has been held on 8 September for more than 100 years. This festival harks back to the old jousts and tournaments that were held to solve disputes or simply as entertainment for local residents. The participants, on horseback, have to inset the tip of a lance into a the metal ring hanging from a ribbon. The horsemen give the ribbons to the "manolas", young women of Fuente de Piedra dressed in their shawls, just as they once used to give their shawls to their chosen knight.
