In the vicinity of the Fuente de Piedra Lagoon we find this viewpoint, nestled in the middle of the countryside. Forming a true balcony to the Cantarranas Lagoon, from this strategic site we can contemplate different landscapes. The olive groves and rainfed crops are interspersed between bastions of Mediterranean shrubs (mastic, holm oaks, gorse and phlomis purpurea are some of the species that can be easily seen) and the humid areas full of life make a perfect picture-postcard.
The wonderful thing about this observatory is that, depending on the time of day, time of year, or even the season, it shows us different facets. We must not forget the seasonal nature of the lagoon as in summer it dries up, hence the change of landscapes in the process.
It is highly recommended to visit in the late afternoon in the winter months, since we can see the arrival of the cranes which use the surrounding areas as roosts.
