ANASTASIO SENRA - Ventana del Visitante
The Anastasio Senra visitor centre is located in an area of the Marismas del Odiel Natural Park known as Calatilla. The existing exhibition both inside the building and in its surroundings allows the visitor to delve into this extensive system of tidal marshes associated with the mouth of the Tinto and Odiel rivers. The sample reflects the importance of this wetland for the survival of many species of birds that, on their migratory routes, stop in this area, which is one of the best conserved in Spain.
The different ecosystems that shape the Marismas del Odiel are found in Anastasio Senra, giving special emphasis to the relevance of the tides in the formation and dynamics of the marshes and the abundant fauna, especially marine and ornithological species that inhabit the area. Data are presented on the enormous biological productivity of these ecosystems, as well as the relevance for the management of their special location on the shores of an urban area subjected to all kinds of productive activities. Of special note is the role of the site's network of environmental volunteers in the monitoring of different wildlife and environmental education activities, and the protected area is presented through a multimedia system in which the protagonists are the people who carry out activities inside. Finally, the visitor will be able to carry out a retrospective on the marshes and their historical-artistic heritage centred on Tartessos, Saltes and the discovery of America.
There is an interpretive itinerary outside the building that gives continuity to the centre, running through a large plot equipped with a botanical itinerary, lagoons with a bird observatory, a demonstration nursery of native vegetation, etc.
Close to the visitor centre and to complete the day in Marismas del Odiel, there is the Calatilla recreational area and the Calatilla de Bacuta signposted hiking trail, which enters the industrial salt mines, as well as the Salinas de Bacuta trail, equipped with an ornithological itinerary, observatory, viewpoints and interpretive centre of the salt mines.
