IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
As a preventive measure to avoid the spread of COVID_19, this path must be travelled uphill from the San Ginés-Lugar Nuevo section, as it is not allowed to do so heading towards Lugar Nuevo to avoid crossing paths with other walkers at a short distance.
This path begins in Cerro del Cabezo, with its entire route descending.
The first section of this path runs along the banks of the Arroyo de la Virgen among rockrose, wild olive trees and some aromatic plants such as cantahueso (thymus moroderi) and rosemary. To the left of this descent, called Cuesta de los Caracolillos, there is a magnificent view of Cerro del Cabezo, on which the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza stands out and the entire southern slope of it, known as the Solanas de la Virgen.
After approximately 1.7 km, you will reach the Camino Viejo viewpoint, from where you can see the valley of the Jándula River as it passes through Lugar Nuevo. Additionally, with a little luck, you can see, in the skies of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, the imperial eagle, the black vulture or the golden eagle, since they are often found in this area.
From the viewpoint, the path begins to have a steeper slope, and caution must be exercised. Once the descent is over, the vegetation changes and reforested stone pines appear on the left, and on the right bank, in front, an open holm oak woodland (dehesa). Crossing this pasture, we come to a Roman bridge that crosses the Jándula river, on whose banks there is a rich vegetation of ash, alder and oleanders.

HOW TO GET
From the urban centre of Andújar, we must take the A-6177 road and travel approximately 30 km, where we will find a road junction. To access the path, we will take the road that leaves to the left and we will travel around 800 m. After this distance we will find, on the left bank, the beginning of this path. Continuing one more kilometre, we will find the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza.
GOOD PRACTICES
Do not disturb or feed the animals. You would negatively alter their behavior.
Check the weather forecast before starting your activity.
Bring water, sun protection, suitable clothing and footwear.
Bring a mobile phone with enough battery in case of emergency (112), but remember that there is not always coverage.
For your safety and that of the environment, do not go off the signposted trail or take shortcuts.
Extreme caution in adverse conditions and in the occasional presence of animals or motor vehicles.
Follow the recommendations and comply with the regulations at all times
Respect the facilities put at your disposal. We all pay for its maintenance.
Help prevent fires. Do not throw cigarettes or any other object that produces combustion.
Trash doesn't come back alone. Take it with you to the nearest container. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
Avoid going out alone. If you do, communicate the route and time of return to other people.
Noise is another form of pollution. In silence you will enjoy your experience more.
Live respectfully with the locals and other users. Respect private property.
Facilitate use for people with special needs.
By consuming local products and counting on local companies, you will contribute to rural development.

Never leave your pet in the wild. It would endanger the flora and fauna of the place.
