El Tajo de la Caina is one of the great escarpments (a free fall of over 100) that surround the white mountain ranges that take their name from the colour of the limestone rocks that they make up the mountain range. Legend has it that the name of this escarpment comes from a woman nicknamed "la Caína", whom the Inquisition ordered to be thrown over the edge for engaging in witchcraft practices.
We will arrive by a path that runs through one of the best fir forests in Sierra de las Nieves where you can easily identify the erect pine cones that disperse their pine nuts in October.
And, along the way, we will find a succession of viewpoints from which we can admire scenic perspectives of great beauty that reach the Mediterranean coast and geological formations as impressive as those of the Tajo de la Caina.
