DESCRIPTION

En este caso iniciamos el sendero en las proximidades del puente de hierro, que es la entrada principal al Parque Natural Sierra de Andújar.

 

Tomamos la pista hacia el interior del Encinarejo y en seguida una derivación de la carretera cerrada al tráfico por la que seguiremos hasta salir a la carretera A-6177 que deberemos cruzar para continuar 200 metros por el cortafuegos que discurre paralelo a la misma hasta la entrada al control de Lugar Nuevo, donde tendremos que dar nuestros datos para obtener permiso para entrar en la finca.


Este permiso es instantáneo pero debemos acudir en horario de apertura del control, entre 8:00 y las 22:00 horas.


Atravesaremos ahora el área recreativa de la recta y continuaremos pista adelante unos 2 kilómetros, hasta llegar al puente Viejo. Tomaremos allí el camino Viejo, subiendo por la conocida cuesta de los Caracolillos y continuando un kilómetro más por la pista que nos lleva al poblado de El Santuario. Atravesamos el poblado y en la plaza de la panadería (plaza del santuario), nos dirigiremos hacia el este cruzando la zona de las carretas y pinar de El Santuario, para tomar el sendero Santuario-Jabalí, que nos conducirá al área recreativa del Jabalí, ofreciéndonos una magnificas vistas del valle del Jándula.


Atravesamos el área recreativa y cruzamos la carretera A-6177 para tomar el sendero Jabalí-Encinarejo de 3,2 kilómetros, que discurre durante unos 800 metros paralelamente a la carretera por un pinar y después, continúa por un cortafuegos durante 400 metros hasta alcanzar una zona más abierta conocida como Loma de Vaciabolsas donde entre encinas, lentiscos y piruétanos descenderemos hasta las proximidades de la presa del Encinarejo.


Una vez en el fondo del valle, tomaremos el sendero del Encinarejo, que discurriendo por una pista paralela al río, entre fresnos y otros árboles de ribera y tras 2,5 km nos llevará al punto de inicio.

Se propone la plaza del santuario de la Virgen de la Cabeza como punto de partida y final, ya que este es un punto de máxima concurrencia de los visitantes del parque natural, pero podrá ser iniciado en cualquier parte de su recorrido ya que su versatilidad así lo permite.
