DESCRIPTION

The Cortijo del Alcázar Restricted Camping Area is located in the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park, in the municipality of Alcaucín, on the bank of the river of the same name.

It is an extensive area where the visitor has a number of facilities at their disposal contributing to their enjoyment of the camp site. In addition to barbecues, picnic tables, benches and toilets, fountains, there are small waterfalls and abundant vegetation that add to this beautiful area.

The Alcázar-La Maroma hiking trail leads us to the highest peak in the province of Malaga, La Maroma which stands at 2,068 metres, the route starts from this Restricted Camping Area.

About 100 metres from the RCA we find the Los Tajos del Alcázar Natural Monument, these cliffs constitute a singular and emblematic sample of the geomorphology of the natural park. A unique and representative geological formation of the dolomitic limestone massif stands out, the cliif known as 'El Fuerte' which has an incline of over 170 metres and is 500 metres long, making it an inaccessible place only frequented by birds of prey and mountain goats. Likewise, the rock and karst vegetation stands out, with the presence of the vascular flora being one of the most significant assets and it is of great botanical interest.

Authorisation
Managed by Alcaucín city council, this is the body that grants the authorisations.
