DATA OF INTEREST
DESCRIPTION

The El Madroñal hiking trail runs along three public paths in Montoro, the Pago Gutiérrez path, the Mojapies path and the El Madroñal path. It begins, and ends, next to the service road of the National road 420, heading down towards the Mojapies stream. Later it continues parallel to the stream, and after passing the Loma de Mojapies, it reaches the Martín Gonzalo stream, from where we will ascend towards an area of olive groves, through which we will pass between the stone walls, until the trail ends.

The route mainly crosses areas of mountain olive groves with presses scattered around, as well as areas of Mediterranean forest and riverside vegetation that accompanies the streams throughout the route. From a number of points you can see the southern part of the Sierra de Cardeña y Montoro Natural Park, they are steep areas where pine forest formations predominate, which were repopulated in the 50-60s, with black pine and stone pine.
