This hiking trail offers you the opportunity to enjoy one of the few places with Mediterranean vegetation and riverside vegetation in the countryside, and is also near the Tíscar Lagoon Nature Reserve. Along the route you can see privileged panoramic views of the Genil river, when it is about to leave the province of Córdoba.
During the route the thicket is dominated by wild olive trees, mastics, esparto and white asphodel. We will be able to find riparian vegetation typical of a natural riverbed, basically composed of black and white poplars, willows, oleanders, brambles, etc. On top of this, it is worth highlighting the richness of birdlife present in the areas of the calm waters of the Genil river. Thus, you will be able to spot the presence of gray herons, moorhens, mallards, kingfishers, great cormorants and other species of interest in the area such as red partridges and rabbits.
From the town of Puente Genil, on the A-379 (km 78.3, exit Puerto Alegre), via the CP-221 that is not tarmacked. The Tíscar lagoon is located at kilometre 4, where we will find a parking area.
