According to the latest catalogue published by the Junta de Andalucía, this is the largest tree in the region.
Located in the Sierra de los Filabres, it stands out for the size of its trunk and the proportions of its top, giving it a monumental structure whilst at the same time being perfectly balanced. With a height of 18.5 metres, a crown diameter of 20 metres and a projection of this at 301.59 m2, it appears as a kind of a very wide cross formed by four huge branches that divide up into a tracery of smaller ones, with a rounded canopy.
It produces a great deal of sweet acorn, and its nickname is due to its colossal base of almost 15 metres in perimeter that acts as a pedestal.
The Holm oak of La Peana is included in the Andalusian Inventory of Singular Trees and Groves.
