WARNING

There is the possibility of doing the canyoning activity from the end of the trail from the Garganta Verde to the Grotto of the Hermitage.

This activity consists of the descent of approximately 300 meters of ravine, the distance between the end of the path to the hermitage, and for this it is necessary to obtain authorization from canyoning, as well as having knowledge and specialized equipment, warning that its practice may harbor safety risks.

The Green Throat is considered one of the most emblematic landscapes of the Sierra de Cádiz. The path that runs through this canyon, the result of the erosive process that the Arroyo Bocaleones has exerted for millennia, allows us to immerse ourselves in a landscape that mixes exceptional cliffs with exuberant Mediterranean vegetation.

This canyon is home to one of the most numerous colonies of griffon vultures in Europe. These scavengers grow to about eight feet in wingspan and one meter in height. Its flight is majestic, taking advantage of the ascending air currents to rise in circles and then maintain a linear trajectory. Sometimes they fly so low that, if we go in silence, we can even hear the faint noise their wings make when rubbing against the air.

The Green Throat trail allows us to access the stream bed by a steep descent on which the vultures will glide. From their nests on small platforms on the vertical walls of the canyon, they launch themselves in circles in the air.
