DESCRIPTION

This short tour through the pine forest takes us from the vicinity of Barbate to the vicinity of Vejer de la Frontera. Its course, which is comfortable and has no steep inclines, allows us to discover one of the most characteristic ecosystems of the La Breña y Marismas de Barbate Natural Park, the pine forest, which, together with the marshes and the marine strip, offers a rich diversity of landscapes in this small protected area, covering just over 5,000 hectares.

The recreational area of the same name is the ideal place to walk before and after using the facilities installed there.

During the tour we will find numerous aromatic plants, such as rosemary and thyme. The latter, in addition to its use in food, was used as long ago as in ancient Egypt for embalming corpses, and in Ancient Greece for their baths and for burning as incense in their temples. But it was probably the Romans who spread its use throughout Europe by using it to purify homes.
