DESCRIPTION

Este sendero, aunque es de pequeño recorrido, no deja de ser interesante, ya que en el punto final del mismo se encuentran las antiguas Minas de la Cruz y la reconstrucción del malacate o castillete minero (antiguo montacargas minero) que existía en estas explotaciones.

El recorrido comienza junto a los Prados del Rey y se dirige al Puerto de las Palomas por la pista forestal rodeada de una vegetación entre la que destaca el pino silvestre, con ejemplares majestuosos al mismo borde de la pista. También encontraremos ejemplares de sabinas y enebros rastreros.

Durante su recorrido, encontraremos a izquierda y derecha diferentes puntos de interés como inicios de senderos o miradores. También nos encontramos en las proximidades de un ejemplo de la coexistencia beneficiosa entre ganadería tradicional y conservación del medio: unos abrevaderos en los que se reproduce la especie endémica y amenazada “sapo partero bético”.

Más tarde tendremos que salir de la pista forestal por un desvío debidamente señalizado a la derecha que nos conducirá en pocos minutos a la zona restaurada de las Minas de la Cruz y su malacate, donde podremos hacernos una idea de los trabajos mineros que se desarrollan en la zona.

En esta bajada podremos disfrutar del paisaje con el Calar de Rapa al fondo y el inicio del barranco originado por el nacimiento del río Gor.

El sendero es lineal y tiene conexión con otro senderos como el sendero Collado del Resinero y sendero Prados del Rey-Filón Violeta.

Es parcialmente ciclable, sólo por la parte que discurre por pista forestal.

HOW TO GET

Desde la autovía A-92 sentido Baza, tomar la salida 28 y continuar por la pista forestal asfaltada durante unos 5 km hasta llegar directamente al Centro de Visitantes Narváez. Continuar por pista forestal unos 12 kilómetros, pasando por el Área Recreativa La Canaleja Alta hasta llegar al aparcamiento habilitado en las inmediaciones de los Prados del Rey.
