DATA OF INTEREST
DESCRIPTION

La Resinera is an emblematic place in the Sierra Almijara, located on an intricate historical route between Granada and Malaga, full of mysteries and legends. Here an industry was established that during most of the 20th century marked the future of the region.

We see what remains of the Unión Resinera Española Factory and what it was in its time with the help of the information point that will allow you to discover how the pine's natural quality is industrialised, the path will lead us to a splendid natural viewpoint that will give us a bird's-eye view of the place.

The resin industry had its heyday in the early 20th century, only to collapse six decades later. In 1960 there were 85 resin factories throughout Spain. In 1972 only three were active, and soon only one remained, in Segovia. The Fornes factory opened in 1902 and at the beginning of the seventies it breathed its last breaths. The great forest fire of 1975 was the final blow.
