The Palacio del Acebrón visitor centre is an old palace-house, built in the second half of the 20th century. Subsequently it has been adapted for learning about and disseminating the ethnographic heritage of the Doñana National Park.
The Doñana and man exhibition offers the visitor the chance to learn about various aspects and peculiarities of the locals' relationship with their natural environment. We see everything from what their huts or houses were like, built from parts of plants from the area, to the hierarchical organisation of the family; delving into the hard life in the marshes and the traditional trades that were developed there such as hunting, fishing and livestock.
The exhibition also deals with the current evolution of other uses such as strawberry cultivation, tourism or hospitality. Of course, deep-rooted traditions such as the Saca de las Yeguas and the world-famous Romería del Rocío are not forgotten.
The Acebrón Palace is located in an important part of the Doñana National Park, at the lower-middle section of the Rocina stream. From here, a path begins that runs through part of this watercourse and enters a spectacular, well-preserved gallery forest.
From the A-483 road, we take the exit signposted for La Rocina and El Acebrón. Once we have passed the La Rocina visitor centre, we continue for seven kilometres along the H-9023 until we reach the Palacio del Acebrón car park.
