DATA OF INTEREST
DESCRIPTION

The equipment in question is the Sendero PR-A 29 Río Bermejo, whose route has been cut, becoming a linear route of 2.3 km.

It starts at the “Era de Abajo viewpoint” in the municipality of Pórtugos. From this point, and looking up the slope, we must take a path with a railing that comes out on the right bank; after 20-30 m we will find the start sign. his pleasant path runs from Pórtugos, between chestnut and oak trees, to the Junta de los Ríos bridge, where the Jabalí and La Chorrera ravines give birth to the Bermejo river. It descends through a spectacular waterfall through the Tajo Cortés, which is accessed by stairs from the Pórtugos recreational area.

The first section of the trail ascends between chestnut trees and small irrigation ditches that provide a cool and shady environment. Leaving behind the Barranco del Castañar and the Acequia de Pórtugos, the path continues ascending through an incipient forest of Pyrenean oaks and sparse holm oaks, until it reaches the recreational area of Pórtugos (1700m above sea level).

Here you can take a break, as there are stone tables and benches available, before going down to the singular waterfall of the Bermejo River, which is located under the Tagus Cortés.

Recommendations: Preferably do it on days or hours of less heat. The unevenness of this path must be taken into account, as well as the irregular state of the surface at various points, excavated and loosened by the passage of water. It is recommended to bring water and mountain shoes.

ATTENTION: The brochure available in the "Publications" tab of this same file corresponds to the old layout of this path. The current layout would cover only up to milestone no. 5 indicated in the aforementioned brochure.
