Don't leave without ... DISCOVER ITS FORTRESSES

Two centuries of coexistence and fighting between Moors and Christians on the frontier lands of Jaén left a major heritage behind them in the form of fortifications and castles in the villages of the Sierra Mágina Mountains. You can get to some of these vestiges easily on foot or by car, such as Bélmez and Cuadros Tower, Bédmar y Garcíez, Jódar and Albánchez de Mágina Castles, and the remains of Moorish fortresses and defensive walls in Jimena and Cambil, conquered by the Christians in 1485.
