On foot or by bicycle, this path through the Marisma de los Toruños Metropolitan Park allows us to discover the best preserved marshes of the entire protected area for over slightly more than five kilometres.
The San Pedro river carries its waters to the Levante beach. On its way, it feeds these marshes with a multitude of pipes, where we can see how the conservation of nature is not at all at odds with public use and the enjoyment of neighbouring populations.
In the marshes the fresh and salty waters mix, as do the creatures of one and the other. The biological productivity in them is one of the highest on the planet. They are also essential habitats for the reproduction of numerous marine birds and species such as: dunlins, common plovers, bar-tailed godwits, dunlins, tringas, golden plovers, curlews, oystercatchers, avocets, stilts, seagulls and many more. Among the invertebrates that inhabit the place are, shrimps, crabs and cockles.
In the urbanisation of Valdelagrana beach (Puerto de Santa María), go to Venta el Macka. About 500 metres from said inn is the beginning of the path, near the Guadalete public school.
