Due the geological, biological and archaeological richness in the geopark, the scientific research is one of the most important tasks in recent years and nowadays.

In the last six years, are being developed the works of the General Research Project "Cavities and Quaternary Registries in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla (CAREQ)". The general purpose of this project is the study of human occupation, natural resources and the paleo-environmental reconstruction of Sierra Norte de Sevilla at the end of the Quaternary, in La Sima (Constantina) and in Santiago caves system.

The team of researchers and technicians that is part of this project covers a wide range of specialties and disciplines, and comes from a variety of research centers, laboratories and universities: Spanish universities of Cordoba, Seville, Huelva and Granada; Dresden (Germany, Technische Universitat); the University of Paris; the Superior Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIC); the Andalusian Institute of Artistic Heritage, etc.

Recently was published the doctoral thesis: "Roman marble quarries of Almadén de la Plata (Seville): an archaeological analysis", carried out by the researcher Ruth Taylor (Department of Prehistory and Archeology of the University of Seville). Therefore, in September 2017 was read the doctoral thesis of Pilar Orche Amaré "Analysis of the evolution of the extractive activity of iron in El Pedroso, province of Seville, with special attention to the prevention of occupational risks" (consultation).

There are also several research and monitoring projects for wildlife and habitats in Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park.

In the last five years more than 15 articles have been published, in various scientific publications, on the stonework of Roman times in the region, the inventory of mining-industrial elements of the Geopark, the results of research in various caves, amphibians fauna, etc.
